PEPI GINSBERG Red Park the Van Website
A couple of years ago, I learned about Pepi Ginsberg through a (now defunct) WHYME Podcast interview and an impressive recorded acoustic session. With a name like Pepi Ginsberg, a distinct singing voice and an overall charming songs, it's hard not to keep going back and check on her music. So, during a recent trip to a record store in San Francisco, I picked up her latest album, Red and as expected, it didn't disappoint.

Red sounds as if it was written and recorded in the 60's and preserved to perfection. Pepi Ginsberg gracefully tells her stories through her poetic lyrics and resonant voice. Even though there's a certain ongoing gloom painted in her songs, I couldn't help but feeling comforted and intrigued. Names like Janis Joplin and her fellow singer songwriter, Cat Power, come to mind when listening to this heavily folk album. But, truthfully, Pepi Ginsberg posses her own unique style and talent that sets her apart from many.
