Yes, it is true. I have gone a few days without posting a review. I basically broke my NaBloPoMo pledge due to one thing or another. Rather than going into excuses, I'm excited to share with you today, a singer, songwriter AND an illustrator from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Meaghan Smith is inspired by music from the 20s, 30s, and 40s and used Mellotron samples because she loved the quirky, vintage vibe they brought to her songs. Meaghan Smith blends jazz and swing perfectly with her tinkling voice. You can hear the lovely results in her 4-song EP, The Cricket's Quartet, out now on Sire Records. It makes me think of scene in a warm summer night, sitting on the porch, while sipping on a mint julep.
